IMMIGRATION
As long as our standard of living is high and we do not turn this nation into a police state, we will always have to pay a price for illegal immigration. Since the problem is unlikely to stop, perhaps we can turn it to our advantage.

This nation was built on the backs of immigrants. Anyone who denies that has either forgotten the lessons of history or never learned them in the first place.

Since 2006 this nation has allowed more legal immigration than all other nations combined. This is good. A pond that collects no new water will eventually evaporate, and we should continue to set the pace for legal immigration.

As long as our standard of living remains high there will always be people trying to get into this country illegally. It's the way the world is built. People will do an awful lot to obtain a better life for themselves and we can pass all the bills and build all the fences we want, but two factors remain:

One, the only real solution is for life in other countries to be good enough so that people don't need to swim our rivers or jump our fences to get a better life for themselves.

Two, unless we turn this nation into a police state and start infringing on the rights of citizens, it will be difficult to provide the resources to detain and deport every illegal immigrant.

So how do we manage the problem? I do not favor blanket citizenship for those here illegally. That is not fair to those who have and will immigrate to this country legally. But perhaps we can turn the problem to our advantage.

Consider this: when you consider the illegal immigrants that are here already, and the difficulty in rounding all of them up and sending them home, perhaps this nation could provide additional avenues of immigration for them. While mindful that American citizenship is privilege and not a right, these avenues could provide legal status to work and live in this country, if not outright citizenship. 

Friends. there is no magic wand that will solve this problem. In fact, it probably can't be solved, only managed, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this matter.

The Purpose Of Government
The purpose of government is to provide for the liberty of its citizens.

Our Financial Crisis
Our problems are both short and long term. Something must be done now.

Taxes
A flat tax is the best way to get this country moving again.

Our National Debt
Our annual deficit should be limited to two percent of our Gross Domestic Product.

Capitalism Is Not A Four Letter Word
Only a free market can get our economy out of the doldrums.

What About Boom And Bust Cycles?
Let's keep government from butting in and let our economy run its course.

Health Care
Let's make doctors and health insurers part of the free market.

Medicare And Social Security
Whether you agree with these programs or not, people worked hard for these benefits and we cannot back out of our deal with our citizens.

The Death Penalty
We've executed people for crimes they did not commit. This is wrong.

National Defense
Peace through strength...And staying out of everybody's hair.

Abortion
Probably as old as pregnancy itself, whether it is legal or not it is not going to go away.

Religion's Role In Our Government
Our government must respect our right to believe, or not, as we see fit. It must not cater to our individual beliefs.

Gun Control
We don't need a government permit to exercise our First Amendment rights, why do we need one to exercise our Second Amendment rights?

Drug Legalization
- What we do in our homes is our business, not the governments.
- If drugs were legal there would be a lot less violence because of them

HOMOSEXUALS IN THE ARMED FORCES
Homosexuals have been serving this country honorably since the Revolution.

HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE
Gays are people too

IMMIGRATION
